This five-week course will assist students through the basic elements of developing a personalised weight reduction programme. The completion of the course does not guarantee weight reduction, but learners will have the foundation and fundamental components for an evidence-based weight loss programme. This course is designed for healthy persons who do not have diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, lung disease, or any other chronic illness. In addition, this course provides no information for individuals with dietary allergies or intolerances.

Weight loss and maintenance needs preparation and goal-setting. Dietary fads and crash diets are unsuccessful and potentially harmful. This course includes evidence-based information for developing a one- to two-pound-per-week weight loss programme that is safe and successful.

This course will assist students in establishing the following:

A realistic target weight accompanied by a detailed strategy for pace of weight reduction and timeframe for reaching the target weight.
 A realistic target for the frequency, duration, and intensity of exercise that will allow the learner to reach and maintain the target weight.
Specific tactics for grocery shopping, dining at restaurants, eating in social settings, and managing hunger and emotional eating.
A strategy for tracking dietary consumption, physical activity, and weight loss.
A strategy for ongoing review of progress toward objectives and techniques for altering goals to ensure continuing weight reduction over the following six months or longer.
A comprehensive grasp of the challenge of sustaining weight reduction and a plan to maximise the likelihood of maintaining weight loss.
